AVID plans go far beyond the architectural representation of a concept.  AVID prides itself in producing accurate, complete and exquisitely detailed construction documents that save builders (and buyers) time, money, mistakes and aggravation in the field.

In addition to being owned and operated by licensed general contractors, AVID has acquired extensive experience over many years who construct a few homes to a few hundred homes each year.  All of this has given AVID the knowledge and expertise that allows us to serve you like no other plan company can!

Plan sets are available in a variety of media – including bond paper, reproducible vellum and digital “CAD” files on CD – and include the following standard/optional components:

 

  • COVER SHEET:  If available, a rendered exterior of the home.

               ..

  • FOUNDATION PLAN:  A scaled drawing that shows the size, dimensions and detailed notes needed to construct slab, crawlspace, post, pole, pier or basement foundations.  All applicable footings, sills, pads, posts, beams, piers, walls, girders and subfloors are noted; excavated and unexcavated areas are also labeled.  Estimates on construction costs are easily obtained given the amount of detail provided in AVID’s plans.

  • DETAILED FLOOR PLAN(S):  A scaled architectural drawing showing the layout of each finished floor of the home.  All rooms and interior spaces are labeled and fully dimensioned.  Precise placements of interior/exterior walls and partitions, doors, windows, and stairways are noted, along with suggested placement of plumbing fixtures, major appliances, fireplaces, bookshelves and other built-ins, cabinets, columns, niches, arches, overhead beams, ceiling coffers or treys, and other special features.  Keys for cross-section or wall section details (located in a separate section) are noted.  The amount of guesswork that often takes place in the field is largely eliminated, saving the builder and buyer both time and money!

  • ROOF PLAN:  A “bird’s eye” (top) view that provides important roof details including the size, direction, slope and position of each roof line.  Hips, valleys, ridges, crickets, parapet walls, chimneys, major vents, skylights, and other penetrations are also noted to help ensure accuracy and simplify construction.  Roof construction may be “stick built” or trussed.  Note: If roof trusses are to be used, it is suggested that the builder contact a local truss manufacturer to ensure that roof members comply with all state and local code regulations.

  • EXTERIOR ELEVATIONS:  Front, rear, left and right sides of the home are illustrated, and all necessary notes, details and dimensions are provided.  Exterior materials and finishes (brick, stone, stucco, siding, shutters, cornice details, trim, etc.) are also applied so as to depict the “look and feel” of the completed home in as much detail as possible.   In this way, builders and buyers can be sure they are getting what they want!
